More than 90% of the water entering Iraq for agriculture is wasted due to the use of these outdated and incorrect methods in irrigating agricultural lands.
The reasons for the water scarcity in Iraq can be summarized in several factors, including the scarcity of water quotas released by the source countries (Turkey and Iran), in addition to the lack of rainfall and poor distribution of water quotas across the provinces of the country in the correct manner, and a lot of water is wasted in old irrigation processes, amid governmental failure to find radical solutions to the pressing water crisis."
