Human rights abuses in iraq

Since the 2003 US led invasion of Iraq, atrocities and human rights abuses occur on an almost daily basis. Despite being promised 'liberation' by the US, for Iraqis, democracy was imparted by an occupying force that had its own agenda at heart. Iraqis have lived through a tumultuous period of major social and political upheaval caused by the illegal invasion in 2003, and the subsequent Iranian encroachment via its proxies in Iraq.
