Local official from Salahuddin stated Hosseini's death most likely occurred during confrontations with the self-styled Islamic State group's [IS] close to the northern road which between the cities of Samarra and Baji.
The official, who declined to be named, said: "Iran's revolutionary guards will now intensify its presence in Samarra, because of the sanctity of the Shiite communities and the militia groups both of who retain large power in the Iraqi judiciary"
He also noted how in recent month the areas within Salahuddin province were witnessing intensified attacks, carried out by IS, particularly since the group seized control over the Baji's oil refinery.
