Local official from Salahuddin stated Hosseini's death most likely occurred during confrontations with the self-styled Islamic State group's [IS] close to the northern road which between the cities of Samarra and Baji.
The official, who declined to be named, said: "Iran's revolutionary guards will now intensify its presence in Samarra, because of the sanctity of the Shiite communities and the militia groups both of who retain large power in the Iraqi judiciary"
He also noted how in recent month the areas within Salahuddin province were witnessing intensified attacks, carried out by IS, particularly since the group seized control over the Baji's oil refinery.
Other news sites heralded Hosseini as a martyr who was shot dead by elements of the Islamic State group. The site added that Hosseini was one of the leading guardians of the so-called holy thresholds inside of Samarra, working to push back IS.
Earlier in January this year explosives expert, Hosseini Shakeri, was also killed within the same vicinity, purportedly by IS fighters.
Meanwhile, a conference was recently held in which elders, notable clans, and members of the local council together discussed how to restore security and safety to Samarra in the wake of these bloody events.
