The bodies of those killed were recovered from the city of Al-Sha'ab.On-the-ground sources report that the victims' initially went missing from Abou-Dashir, Dawra, area in Iraq. This is the latest in a long list of crimes perpetrated my criminal militia gangs in Iraq.
The most prominent of those killed was Sheikh Qassim Swaidan Al-Janaby, his son, and ten others. Late Sheikh Qassim Swaidan, is heralded as one of the leading members of the Al-Janaby Tribe.
The Al-Janaby tribe has a revered history among Iraqis for the leading role it played in resisting the 2003 US-led occupation of Iraq. The price Sheikh Qassim Swaidan paid was to endure imprisonment, despite his tireless efforts in restoring the right of return for Sunnis who were forcible displaced (from Jurf) during this period.
Yesterday's bloodbath is believed to be further evidence of the brutality and aggression with which militias operate. Many believe that this is the fate meted out to any Iraqi opposing militia's and the Iranian presence on Iraqi soils at present.
Sheikh Qassim Swaidan will be remembered as a noble, magnanimous, and generous man.
The Islamic State group in Iraq is said to be mourning the death of these individuals and their deeds.
