​W​e are in a period of history where we have access to more information than ever before and all instantaneously at the click of a button. Despite this, the magnitude of so called ‘fake news’ has reached fever pitch, with many calling the integrity of journalists, responsible for disseminating political information, into question.

Within the special position they occupy, journalists are bound by professional norms which in the last decade of coverage on Iraq have been tailored in ways that reflects the geopolitical preferences of regional and international powers.

It is claimed that on September 22 1980, following a military operation led by Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s army, 10 airfields across Iran were bombed by Iraqi jets. A quick google search tells us this was how the eight-year war began, but trawling through archives, the reality one begins to uncover, is far from this simple version...

Sistani - The Politician

FRB conducted a series of interviews with notable tribal leaders and locals in the area of Saqlawiyah and Al-Azraqiyah, to ascertain to the fate of local men kidnapped and savagely tortured by security forces and Iranian-backed militias.

'Al Qaim Massacre' Report

​As the world struggles to make sense of ongoing battles between Iraqi forces and the Islamic State in Mosul, week by week, civilians in their hundreds are dying. 

The world stood back silently earlier in the month of December after government war jets bombarded civilian population centres in the border town of Qaim.

This report, jointly written by the Iraqi War Crimes Documentation Centre and Foreign Relations Bureau, Iraq, documents the event and presents the names of the civilians that lost their lives in the attack. ​
